Cannot believe it's December!

Well, here's the scoop: Kristen has arrived! Woo-hoo! It's so good to see her again and we're going to have a blast while she's here. Of course with her luck and mine (crazy luck) there are bound to be lots of bizarre funny things/stories happening.

Last night I was fun, I was treated to heaps of delicious food at Club Tatts in downtown Sydney. Very classy place, I was there with two co-workers etc. and it was just food heaven. Had some mushroom ravioli appetiser (yum!) , chargrilled beef with onion marmalade for the main, and plum pudding and ice cream for dessert. They kept coming around with wine, refilling everyone's glasses, so I was ready to fall asleep after the first one ;)

Thursday night I asked Kristen if there was anywhere special she wanted to go for dinner and get this - she said Otto's! How funny is that? I was so excited because I'd been craving that damn pizza all day at work and wanted to go and get it again, even if it was the next day. So we went and it was heaven, I tell you. I made Kristen try a bite and she was not impressed to say the least, and officially thinks I have weird taste in food, and she's probably right ;) But that's me, lovin' the weird stuff. Anyway, the pizza was huge, I looked at it thinking, "Right, so I'll have to take half of this home with me." But that was not to be, ladies and gentlemen, I ate the whole thing! I was stunned. Kristen was stunned. It was the first time in ages a waitress has ever taken a plate away from me without feeling obligated to ask if I was done. I should have grabbed the plate and said, "Hey, I haven't licked the crumbs yet, Missy! Back off!" Anyway, usually I talk too much during dinner and I'm a super slow eater, so I was quite proud of myself for polishing it all off. If only I'd had a camera ;)

Tonight was a night of comedy and pizza. I went to see the Puppetry of the Penis show at the Footbridge Theatre. Now now, I can hear my relatives freaking out from the other side of the world, but rest assured, this is a comedy show. Granted, you'd all still freak out if you ever saw it, but it was quite funny. I won't elaborate here, if you're curious, click on the link. So it was hilarious, even though I've seen it before - last year. I enjoyed it just as much this time around, and the support act was great too! I wish I could remember her name, but she rocked.

After the show we went to Otto's, one of my favourite Glebe cafes. I adore their chicken fajitas but Rammstein thought that the Tandoori Chicken pizza sounded good....to be continued....

Hey Lenny (yes, that's still you Benjamins!), if you're reading this, I miss you, so gimme a call. I will buy you a beer! Or three or four! ;) - Squiggy

One thing I will never get over: The cleaning ability of Sprite. I'm sure club soda would work just as well, but I never have that lying about. But yeah, if you happen to spill dark juice or soda on your carpet because you or your friends are klutzes, just pour enough Sprite on the carpet to cover the entire stain. Let it soak in....then start to mop it up with a sponge and put a fan over the rug to assist in the drying. If you use enough Sprite, the stain should be either totally gone or at least 100x better than it was before. I'm about as un-Martha Stewart as they come, but at least I know one trick ;)

Okay, I've just added little temperature/time clocks for both Sydney and Boston so everyone can keep track of the time difference and temperature difference. For those of you reading this from the U.S., Europe, Asia, or wherever you are, the current time is whatever it says on this page. I know the whole springing ahead, falling back thing has confused some people. Sydney is now 16 hours ahead of east coast U.S. and 19 hours ahead of west coast U.S. (weird, huh?) However, I might remove the Boston clock (or just stick it somewhere else) Because I think the two clocks look really annoying together on the same page! ;) I'm also thinking of perhaps trying to come up with a slightly less childish design for these clocks and sending it to the url that offers these time/weather thingies. They're a bit kiddish, but I really can't complain because it's such a nice free tool. Thanks to wunderground.com and to geekbee.com, because I saw it there first.

Holy cow it is a hot one today - would have been an excellent beach day had I not had work to do...maybe next weekend. It is 5.30pm and it's currently 32.7 degrees Celsius, which is nearly 91 degrees Farenheit. And when you're in direct sunlight - hot! hot! hot! I really can't complain as I'd rather sweat than be shivering, but my apartment temperature is fine and comfortable, just have the fan going on low. I have to go swimming on days like this - hope to start going to the pool across the street in the next couple weeks and Kristen will give me a good excuse to start going to the beach in general. We're going to do the walk from Bondi to Coogee, but I think we should start in the morning this time ;) Last year we started the walk around sunset, so of course that meant we were walking in total darkness. We couldn't see where we were going and at one point realised, "hey, we're walking through a cemetary!" What followed was about 2 hours of inching through the pitch blackness ("Are we there yet?") and being followed by a mysterious man playing the bagpipes in the bushes. Now, I'm a big fan of Austin Powers, but I really didn't want to meet a "Fat Bastard" character in the middle of nowhere, at night, no less. Oh, those were the days! ;)

Okay, back to work for me, just had to do my weather upate. I keep saying how I won't be boring and comment on the weather, but I know my family actually likes to hear the weather comparison between here and the east coast of the U.S., so this is for you guys! ;)

The Glebe Street fair is happening today....excellent tribal music happening, I can still hear it from my apartment. I didn't stay too long and I refrained from buying things with butterflies on them. I am stunned by my willpower. It was very difficult to keep walking, but I did it ;)

Just got home....2.30am, not bad at all. Early night! Saw a super show at the Hopetoun Hotel. Headlining were Faker who put on yet another super show. Consistently contagious, cool, and danceable rocking tunes. The second band was The Feelerss, who really rubbed me the right way. Excellent set from them, I'm going to have to buy their album....good stuff!

I finally got to see the one and only Sir Milgram and the lovely Madame S, and the cool South-American sounding Irish Miss F and I also got to see my semi-regular gigging crowd, Andrew and Angela. Went with A + A to a toga party in Marickville after the show, finally redeeming myself after turning down too many invites from Andrew. You haven't lived until you've been in a bathroom with Angela and Andrew, creating Andrew's party costume. I was highly impressed with Angela's sheet stylings and the team-work those two had when creating a laurel tiara for Andrew out of a coat hanger and tral leaves, it was something of beauty. I really didn't help much, I pretty much just laughed at the two of them. I danced my butt off for about an hour. There was some good music going and there was a nice dance floor happening. Then Angela and I did the mature thing and left early so we could actually get work done tomorrow. We left Andrew to party on in our absence. I still smell like Angela now - she gave me some of her perfume, it goes fairly nicely with my vanilla.

All in all a very good night, but 2 lowlights:
1. On my way to the show, I decided to take a cab. Needed to get money from the ATM, so I went to catch a cab at Broadway. Nothing makes me happier than when I am blatantly standing on the sidewalk trying to hail a cab when a group of ignorant people look at me, notice I'm trying to hail a cab, and then walk like 20 feet ahead of me and try to hail a cab in front of me. This happens to me all the time, and there's not a whole lot to do really. I can either give them a nasty look or just walk to another corner, but there's no sense in getting upset. I have a good karma thing going. When I am trying to hail a cab and I notice someone already there, I go up to them and ask if they're trying to hail one. If they say yes, I politely stand behind them and wait for them to get one. They were there first, so that's that. I had no deadline tonight, so I wasn't particularly bothered by these kids. However, a miraculous thing happened tonight. After they kept looking over at me and snickering over how they were going to get a cab before me, they hailed a cab that looked like it was coming to them, and I hailed the one behind it. At the last second, their cab decided to blow them off and turn left and my cab sailed right by them and stopped in front of me. They were livid. Ha ha! Karma, baby, karma. So, this lowlight was actually a highlight.

2. Okay, this one really is a lowlight. I was up at the bar with F, waiting to order a drink and noticed the girl next to me light up a cigarette. I jokingly said, "Hey, let me know if my hair catches fire, will ya?" cause she was being all haphazard with her cigarette. And we laughed. And we waited. And I smiled. I smiled right up until I felt this horrible burning sensation in my arm. The dork burned my arm with her cigarette. She noticed she did it and moved the cigarette away, but too little, too late, honey. There's currently a bright red mark on my arm where it happened which I am hoping will fade away soon. Ah well, it's a dangerous world out there, folks. ;)

Sweet dreams!
