Leopard Print Faux-Pas

Craziness, as usual, no time to write about it, as usual. There's a new gal in the office - yay! She doesn't work for our company, but she's renting office space from us. It's so nice to have some estrogen in the office - someone to sympathise with me about all the testosterone in the office! I've been the only chick here for a long time. We had our first bonding session today when Abby invited me to go shopping with her at this fashion warehouse with major discounts on last season's stuff. So we took at quick look this arvo. Oh the joys of the one-room changing room. I realised, in horror, that I was wearing my most embarassing underwear. It's this new leopard-print cotton underwear...I stupidly bought the hi-cut instead of my usual bikini briefs and I'm regretting it - they look like I'm wearing leopard print underwear for old ladies. They're huge! So, when trying on some skirts I kept giving sneaky furtive glances to the naked women around me, making sure no one was looking at my stupid underwear. Most of them were trying on bathing suits and didn't give a damn, thank goodness. I tried to hide my underwear with one skirt while trying the other skirt on. Not a good look. Funnily enough, Abby and I ended up buying the same skirt. The boys in the office will get a good laugh if we end up wearing it at the same time...

On to bigger news...tomorrow I am going to my first BBQ in Australia. Some of you might be thinking, so what? But to any Aussies reading this, you will understand the importance. I have been here for over 2.5 years and have never had a proper Aussie BBQ. It's shameful. I've had Aussie friends put their hands on my shoulder and say, "Ohmygod, I am so sorry, we will rectify this."

But it just never happened. Invites happened, stuff came up, things fell through. I was starting to think I was cursed in BBQs. But tomorrow will change all that...my first proper BBQ, in Asquith ( or ask with my ass, right Kristen?) and I'm bringing the salad because I'm "the girl." Boys hunt, me collect fruits and vegetables....whatever ;)

Quick note about our favourite almost-Seattleite, Kristen! I spoke to the lovely gal for nearly 2 hours last night. She says to send her love to you all, you all know who you are. I am very excited for her about her trip - she's leaving Monday, U.S. time, Smooches! :-)

Sunday I shall be mosey-ing on down to Science Day @ the Australian Museum and the Botanic Gardens etc. to see cool sciency stuff and make fun of Chad hosting the kiddie Solar Boat Race (I'm just jealous, Chad). Looking forward to catching up with 2 of my new favourite gals, C + M. :)

Tonight I'll likely be heading to the movies...

Oh, and the good news is that I'll probably have some news next week. Yes, that news. That should mean something to my family and friends. Hint, hint.

Good luck to Rammstein and Co in Spain - I hope the grunting works. :-)

Later taters!

Losing It

No, I'm not losing my mind, at least not yet. Just lost a big boring blog. *POUT* It was all about my oh-so-witty (year right) thoughts and 'insights' concerning my visa medical exam...no energy now, will try again tomorrow!

Me and My Big Mouth

I obviously jinxed the warm beautiful weather. :( It's been chilly - around 55 degrees F for all you little yankees, which is nothing for winter, but pains me and my pathetic body.

I was eating dinner while watching 24 last night and I was gripping my sandwich so tightly, I practically squeezed it to death, I was so tense, especially for those poor kidnapped gals. Yes, I'm getting way too into the show, but so what? ;) I was hooked on last week's show (thanks again, Shayna!) and I know exactly what was going to happen, but I was still sucked in.

Speaking of getting sucked in, I had no intention of watching Ally McBeal this season but those cruel bastards have cast James Marsden in the show and I now I have to watch the entire season just to perv at James. I don't normally go for uber-pretty boys, but I just can't help myself with him. Could his lips/eyes be any sexier?

Lots of stuff going on...in the ever elusive visa saga, I have to go get a full medical exam done first thing tomorrow morning. Blood-tests, urine tests, X-Rays, TB tests, the whole works. I love it when you have to do something that requires you to not pee before leaving the house in the morning. If there was something wrong with me, would they even tell me? I had to have this done two years ago and they don't tell you anything, it just goes straight to immigration. When you pay a couple of hundred bucks, you'd like to at least know your height and weight! Sigh...I wonder if I'll get the same nurse as last time. She saw my butterfly fetish (Based on my bfly shirt, rings, necklace) and took blood with a butterfly syringe. I was like, "Thanks, but I still don't want to watch you take my blood!"

Oh, one final thing before I head off to dinner with J and L, I just started reading, Down Under by Bill Bryson thanks to a loud recommendation from Rachel. (Thanks, Rach!) Last night I thought I was going to bust a lung or a rib, or pee my pants. I haven't laughed that hard at a book, a movie, or anything in so long....and I'm only into the second chapter. I was dying....I was laying in bed, crying, gasping for breath. You know when you get into those laughing fits and can't stop? That was me. He's such a hilarious writer, and I can relate to a lot of what he writes about. I can't wait to read more tonight. It will be a reward after I spend 2 hours filling out the official paperwork for my visa health exam! :-)

Global Warming

I know global warming is bad, verrry bad, but damn it was nice this weekend! Summer weather in winter. I was very happy! Saturday night was the dual Ray and Jorge birthdays - we thought of you too, Heather! We had dinner at a yummy Greek place and then we went out dancing. I was toning down the dancing so as not to embarass my friends, but the moment I walked into this one club, this old guy came up to me, yelled "Woo-hoo!" and grabbed me around the waist, kissing me on both cheeks. What is wrong with people???

Sunday I saw the premiere of Stuart Little 2 at Fox Studios, with the lovely Claudine and her adorable daughter Mia. Mia is 2 and was a bit frightened of the Stuart Little in costume dude, but seemed to really like Stuart on the big screen! Then, I spent the afternoon at Bondi with Rocky, Paulo, Marvin, and Mia. We went to the beach in winter. I could not stop thinking this. It was a gorgeous day and I wished I had my bathing suit.

Got some writing done this weekend, and some pesky chores that needed doing...my belated b-day present for Ruth was the envy of everyone on Saturday night - a book called, I Don't Need to Have Children, I Date Them - 19 Methods of Child Psychology You Can Use on Men. I know Ruth will find it useful. ;-)

Gotta jet - later kiddies!

p.s. Am currently obsessed with Counting Crows' new CD, Hard Candy - at the moment I especially love "Hard Candy" and "American Girls" -- and I swear I like "American Girls" because it's damn catchy, and not because of the title ;-)
