I am in love!

Yes, it is true. I am in love. Don't get too excited, the new loves of my life are my new pet fish, purchased today! I went out and got myself two male Siamese Fighting Fish and they are absolutely adorable!!!

I got them around 3pm, got home 3.30pm and got the mini-tank set up around 4.30pm and I was supposed to leave at 5pm to meet up with The Boys, but I actually felt sad about leaving my babies so soon!

I would count these two as my official first "totally mine" pets as my previous fish were office fish and though they were supposed to be mine, I only fed them, I never handled the filter/cleaning part of it. But since I am a low maintenance gal, I wanted some low maintenance fishies and I don't think I could have found easier fishies to take care of. It's all thanks to Claudine - she bought a Siamese fighter fish for a relative for Xmas this year and it was so cute and after I saw how it didn't need a filter or lots of plants or a heater or anything, I was like, "HELL-O!"

I tried to buy some fishies earlier in the week but they were sold out at Broadway. I went to Bondi Junction to try and the first store were sold out but the second store had some. I was only intending to get one fishie cause I know you can't have more than one male in a bowl because they'll attack each other. So when I was there, I was having a hard time deciding which fishie to get and then I saw a little tank with 2 compartments and found out I could get two fishies, so I didn't have to choose between them - yay! (Such a gemini thing, I can never choose between to things so I end up getting both!) So it's one tank but with a glass separator. It's supposed to be really good for them because they'll get lots of exercise due to being able to see the other fish. Whenever they see each other, they get all puffed up and full of attitude and they start flapping those fins extra hard as if trying to say, "You wanna a piece of me???" But they can't get to each other, so they get a work out but can't actually kill each other. :-)

I was going to name them Hermoine and Dumbledore, but I've decided to wait and gauge their personalities first. One of them is teal with purple and green and the other is white and kind of a sky blue and purple. So pretty! (Yes, I know they're both boys and Hermoine is a girl's name but one of them could be a drag queen fish ;-)

Anyway, I had a great time with The Boys and Jenn tonight, but I was so excited to get home and see my babies and feed them. I'll have to try to take some photos of the kiddies! I'm all clucky!

Signing off,
Mum Lozza
